But if your schedule is tight and you can’t attend class regularly, we propose a flexible program that allows you to take part of the regular French course. Depending on the availability of places, you can choose the days that best suit your schedule. Please note that the French courses “à la carte” can be followed only by the students with basic knowledge of French. This program is NOT available for beginner students.

School ACTIVITIES

Learning French is not limited to the activities in class. LUTECE LANGUE provides students with various opportunities to practice French and experience French culture.

FREE guided conversation workshops
Every week, LUTECE LANGUE offers conversation workshops for free.  There are two groups,
Beginner / elementary & intermediate/advance and the workshops are guided by a teacher.

LUTECE Tea Time
The school offers snacks and drinks every Tuesday morning. It is a good chance to chat with other students. Coffee and tea are served free at LUTECE so that you can learn French in a relaxed atmosphere.

School party
The French celebrate and eat "Galette des Rois" (almond pastry pie)” in January and “Crêpes” in February, and so do we. International parties are also regularly organized.

FAQ

1. What are the average age and the principal nationalities of the students ?
The age range is 18-75 and the average age is around 30. We have many mature students (40 & 50) as well as young students, which makes the average age relatively high. We appreciate the diversity of students. The major nationalities are American, Japanese, British and German.

2. When do I take French placement tests ? When do I know my class schedule ?
When the booking is done, you will receive a written test along with a booking confirmation by email. You will also be asked to call the school for an oral test (3-5 min). Based on the results of the tests, the school will determine your class and let you know the timetable by email, generally one week before the course starts. Both written and oral tests are mandatory for all students, including complete beginners in French. The school does not guarantee a placement in an appropriate class if the tests are not taken.

3. How many levels do you have ?
There are five levels:

• Beginner : having no or few notions of French
• False Beginner : capable to make very simple sentences with limited vocabulary
• Elementary : capable to have a simple conversation, but with errors and hesitation
• Intermediate : capable to have a fluent conversation in many situations, but with errors.
• Advanced : capable to manage in any types of situation with ease.

4. What shall I do the first day of class ?
You need to come to the school 20 min. before the class to finalize the payment. Then you will take a French lesson. At LUTECE LANGUE, you don’t lose the first day of class by taking placement tests.
